So finally real help is getting in, but rescue efforts are still continuing. There are still people trapped. And the need for help from everyone continues to grow. The truth is that that it will continue for a long time - long after everyone who isn’t a victim has moved on to whatever happens next.
We get conditioned by the nature of media and the complexities of our own lives to become quickly satiated by crisis. Long-term problems requiring extended concentrated attention and help tend to fade pretty fast. In the moment - at the beginning - we feel the needs of those whose homes and lives have been shattered. But over time we become used to it and eventually fail to really hear or feel as clearly as we did at the beginning.
So I’m here asking again - ANY - any assistance you can offer could well make a huge difference to some one you’ll never know. And if you can afford somehow, to donate again - and I won’t kid you here - and again and again over the weeks and months to come, please do it. You may never know just who you helped or how much difference you made, but you will have made a difference. And if all of us do what we can, it can turn into a massive amount of assistance and support.
I can’t really imagine what it must be like to see your town vanish, to lose your home, job, and every possession but what you have on your back. The needs are desperate. And they will continue.
So again, whatever help you can offer - anything - no matter how minimal it is - please click on the banner below and do what you can. Thanks.
Thanks
E.B. Randall
